The tourism capital of Belize, San Pedro Town is the only town in Ambergris Caye. Locally known as “La Isla Bonita”, San Pedro Town is a Caribbean paradise with sandy beaches and azure waters protected by the second largest reef in the world, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.
With a population of close to 16,000, San Pedro Town is culturally diverse with almost people of every culture living in harmony. Currently San Pedro is the second largest town in the Belize District and most visited destination by tourists.
Once a small fishing village, San Pedro has flourished into a bustling town with development at every corner. With an estimated land area of 27.5 square miles, the landscape is also ecologically diverse and home to thriving marine and avian ecosystems. The primary mode of transportation in San Pedro Town is golf carts and the town can easily be accessed by boat rides from Belize City, Corozal Town, Chetumal City in Mexico or airplane ride from Tropic Air and Maya Island Air.
San Pedro Town offers the best facilities and service providers for sater sports such as fishing, snorkelling and diving. Its most iconic touristic destinations include Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Shark Ray Alley, Mexico Rocks, Bacalar Chico and the Marco Gonzalez Archaeological Site.
